SC HUB
The Sickle Cell Hub, situated in West Seattle, offers both permanent and temporary accommodation for individuals affected by Sickle Cell Disease in our community. Additionally, it hosts monthly therapeutic sessions such as yoga, acupuncture, reflexology, massage, and various social and educational events.
“I learned that the movement practices can be modified from session to session to fit the needs and mobility levels of where the person is that day.”
Jo’s Place
Jo’s Place is a community-based housing program in Seattle’s Central District that offers permanent and transitional housing for individuals aged 17–30 living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Named in honor of Sickle Cell advocates Joanita Nambassa and Joehayward Wilson, Jo’s Place provides holistic support through stable housing, bi-monthly mentorship with SCD experts, mental health coaching, financial guidance, and regular wellness services. Residents engage in community life through chores, house meetings, and hosting quarterly events to support other SCD youth transitioning into adulthood. With access to trusted medical centers and a strong support network, Jo’s Place empowers young adults with SCD to build stability, independence, and a sense of belonging.
“This experience helped my overall well-being. I enjoyed laughing for no reason in laughing yoga class. Please bring them back weekly if possible.”

“Best yoga I've ever done. I wasn't a fan before but I am definitely a fan now. I can't wait to do it again.”
